Lately it seems my mind has been occupied with thoughts of a special nephew that is slowing spending day after day thinking about who and what is important to him in the short time he has left here on earth. He's part of the Swedes that are proudly called Larson Clan. He has friends and family that have been on this journey for a little over a year. Those close to him have gone from Minnesota to Florida taking time for rides on Harleys and laughs and tears I am sure. He has been an example of what FIGHT is really about in reference to diseases. He truly has been an example of how to do this dying thing with dignity. Oh my I said the word, die. We all have to say it eventually and we all have to face our own death too, but when you know it is coming what do we say and how do we live? Brads wife has said over and over to all of us on his caringbridge site, Love each other, because God is Love and He loves you. Call and visit, which is so hard to do, and why is it hard? Is it because I don't want to say goodbye one more time? But he needs my hellos one more time I am sure. She says come by and see us, that too is hard when miles are between us and winter is giving us more storms than we have had for years. Or is it that I don't want to really face what I might see? God is giving them the strength that I hope I will have one day when I could be faced with the C word! I pray for courage and peace, for smiles and laughter, for patience in the waiting and hope in the knowledge that He is carrying me and my loved ones through to the other side of the pain and fear. God is Good as my friend always ends her notes, God is Good for sure. He gave my ring-bearer nephew an opportunity to say goodbyes, that my husband didn't get 22 years ago next week. Would I have prefered to say good by instead of just remembering a face in the window looking as I drove to work that morning? Yes I would. I need to grab the chance and call and tell him I love him, like his wife says every post. And please do the same with your family, even when you don't think today could be their last, because it could be and you don't want to be wishing you had. I love you kids. Mom
